We've gone from snow day... To a beautiful spring with lots of things blooming...

all in just ONE WEEK!!! Spring in Louisiana-unpredictable at best.

The knitting hasn't stalled, just slowed to a snail's pace. Knitting time has been eaten up by work stuff, family stuff, and my other guilty pleasure-spinning. But I do have a couple of recent FO's

These are the 'Papa socks' that I finished before Christmas as a gift. They turned out quite nicely if I may say. And the recipient loved them (I hope so 'cause I won't be knitting size 12's again anytime soon) They were a perfect fit and it's always gratifying to give somethign they know you put alot of work into and is appreciated. The yarn is a lovely hand-dyed Etsy find. I have to find the tag so I can get more. I have some in brown, but the grey is the only one I've tried. It's best on US0's, so, the brown will languish in the stash for a while before I'm ready to go there again.

These were my Schaeffer Anne socks that I started ages ago, but only just finished last month. I used a pattern from the Vintage Socks book for men's socks, since I seem to knit alot smaller than the pattern writer. They are the softest, most beautifully colored (most impractical) socks I've made for myself. I love them! I think they may not hold up well over time and wearing, but they feel sooo good on my feet! I usually sleep in them, but do wear them out once in a while. I try to be gentle with the wasing too. This yarn doesn't have a whole lot of stretch, and after a day's wear the cuffs keep sliding down and won't stay in place. I don't care, they're pretty enough to forgive that little flaw. I may get some more of this for a hat since I enjoyed knitting with it so much.

There's been a little spinning going on and I shopped around for a new wheel. I have decided against a new one for now and settled on a level-wind flyer kit for my Fricke wheel. For now. I also ordered 2 pounds of wool from my favorite wool pusher, Spunky Eclectic. Now I'm looking forward to a week of stalking the mailman.
